Cute and Fun
Many people think that animal shelters are dark, dingy, scary and sad places, but that is simply NOT true at Walden! We have put together a pictorial virtual tour for you and hope that you will stop in and visit in person soon. We're open Tuesday - Sunday 1-4 pm except on major holidays or heavy snow storms.
The main desk in our lobby. You are sure to find someone here to welcome you and ask if they can help.
During the month of February we had a Valentine's Day tree in our lobby where you could choose a shelter dog or cat to sponsor, or send in a photo of your own pet.
One of our two "cat palaces" which allows some of our longer term residents to live in a more home like environment and have access to an enclosed outdoor space during nice weather.
The "walk around" cat room, allows 360 degrees of viewing for the cats who are new to the shelter.
Bailey has been adopted since this photo was taken!
Oreo is still looking for his forever home. Every cage has a window view and everyone has a soft place to nap.
The Large Cat room population varies but 3-5 members are comfortable with places to nap, climb and hang out. Most of the kitties who live in this room are too large to be comfortable in a standard size cage, hence the name.
Snickers is definitely a big boy! He is a little shy at first, but he loves to be brushed and have attention.
Lessa has been with us over a year now and is really enjoying having a nice room to hang out in, instead of a cage. She has become much more sociable since moving in, and we hope she will find a real home soon.
As you head to the dog side of the shelter you will probably be greeted by one of our friendliest dogs or puppies. This is Ducas, a cute 8 month old playful boy. He would love to go for a walk with you, and is also looking for a forever home.
Small dogs are housed in crates and this room can hold up to about 8 when we have alot of animals.
The kitchen on the dog side is small and crowded but very neat and clean. The kitchen and dog bathing rooms are two areas where we hope to make improvements this year if are budget allows for it.
The main kennels offer protected inside space and an outdoor "run" during the day when weather allows.
Midget happily waits for a treat during a walk by one of our volunteers.
Skippy is a terrior mix who is mostly deaf. He needs a patient family to love him.
Bear has been adopted since this photo! Staff and volunteers do their best to make sure everyone gets out to walk, play, and have attention, every day.
Diesel and Ethel were part of our January adoption event at Tractor Supply. The dogs love to get out and have all the extra attention at these events. In nice weather, staff and volunteers also bring them to local dog parks as often as possible. Ethal has been adopted since this photo was taken!
Charlie wearing his thinking cap. He has been adopted since this photo was taken!
Our yard sale room. We have at least one indoor yard sale every month. If you have items to donate please bring them by Tuesday - Friday between 1-4 pm. If you like to shop, keep an eye on our Upcoming Events page and/or Like us on Facebook for upcoming yard sale dates.
Thank you for taking our virtual tour! Please stop by and visit for real soon.
